Proof of Reserves explained
Updated on August 4, 2026
Proof of Reserves (PoR) shows, cryptographically, that client balances are fully backed by real assets.
How it works
- Snapshot — account balances are hashed into a Merkle tree at a fixed block height.
- Attestation — a third-party auditor confirms on-chain wallet holdings exceed the tree total.
- Verification — you verify your own balance is included using your account's Merkle proof.
Verify your own balance
Open "Assets → Proof of Reserves" and enter the verification data shown for your account. If the hash matches the root published in the report, your balance was included in the audit.
Why it matters
Exchanges can fail when they lend out or lose client funds. PoR gives you a mathematical — not verbal — guarantee that your assets exist and are not rehypothecated.
